Now that the league has finished both clubs were able to extend the fixture to five triples and we took the opportunity to "stretch" our squad in Saturday's National Finals of the Men's Triples by playing them in their competition order. More of that later. Once again it was a chilly night and as the Captain had arranged to oversubscribe the 15 players required he took the opportunity to "sit this one out". It was good to welcome Pat Clements back for her first game this season. We were well supported by spectators and the Aunt Sally contingent kept Jenny and Tony on their toes all evening.
Overall it was a very tight game and we went down 2 rinks to 3 with a score of 68 - 72. At the away fixture in May we won by 11 points 87 - 76 so there is very little between the two teams. Many thanks to Jenny and Tony for running the bar all evening and to Chris and Maggie Skidmore for setting up the room and snacks for us.
Rink 1
Paul Jones, Peter Wells and Bryan Ogilvie managed to halve the ends but a bare patch in the middle saw them trail in 11 - 19.
Rink 2
Yvonne Twomey, Pat Clements and Dave Bryant also managed to halve the ends and only went down by two shots 10 - 12.
Rink 3
Paul Jelfs, Pete Sutton and Kevin Mytton also split the ends in what was a very tight game but two fours towards the end saw them home 17 - 10. Lets hope that they can recreate this form at 09.00 at Leamington on Saturday.
Rink 4
Dave Drinkwater, Mick Wilkins and Ted Eley took 11 ends including a six on the tenth end which set them on course for an 11 point victory 21 - 10.
Rink 5
Steve Clarke, Richard Lawrence and Pete Griffin struggled against tough opposition and could only muster five ends to come in 9 - 21.
Altogether an enjoyable and profitable evening which everyone seemed to enjoy.
